It's Halloween! It's time for some scare, partying, gorging on chocolate and candy loot and dressing up in fun Halloween costumes. Before you make a choice of Halloween costume that is sure to make others' eyes pop out in astonishment through its sheer beauty, uniqueness or audaciousness, please remember that there is more to picking up a costume than just for its dazzling effect or its shock value. There are some considerations that you have to think of and we have put out a list so you will have these things in mind when you settle on a costume. 1. Can you carry it off well? The costume may scream “sexy” or is totally original, but what if it does not look good on you and instead make you look frumpy? The last thing you want to be called when you sashay your way into the Halloween party is to be called a dowd. So make sure the costume's construction suits your body shape and its color flatters you. Sexy costumes are part and parcel of the holiday, but you don't want to be too sexy that it borders on the indecent. 2. Can you pull it off? Everyone wants to be original and to be seen, so it is a great time to put on a crazy suit for a stunt and for laughs. But if go out as a male Catwoman but can't pull it off, it will come out flat and plain lame. So be careful. 3. Are you comfortable in your costume? So you really love Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Turtles, but are you sure about wearing a full mutant turtle costume? You will end up becoming heated, sweaty and unable to move about much. Remember that the essential mood during Halloween is to have a great time. How are you going to do that, lugging such a heavy costume, dancing uncomfortably and endangering people and things around you? What's more, people tend to avoid wearing those large and bulky costumes. Settle for something simple but interesting, of course. None of those sprites, witches, Playboy bunny and her sexy ilk—these are so boring that it's lame. And if it is freezing, you may want to bring along a warm coat or shawl but choose one that will go well with your costume. 4. Does your costume fit the location? Choose a costume that is warm, if the Halloween celebration is held outdoors or if you have to spend a lot of time outside. It will be such a shame if you have to cover up your dazzling outfit because it is too flimsy for October. But if the party is going to be held in the house, a bar, or somewhere pretty crowded, then it would be a good time to wear something light. 5. Is your costume appropriate for the occasion? Everybody thinks everything is fair game on Halloween when it comes to costumes. But appropriate dressing still applies, even in Halloween. You can't wear your Playboy bunny outfit when you are supervising a children's party or attending a family party where there's a lot of young people. The same is true if the party is being sponsored by a church. Keep in mind the kind of party you have to attend and suit the costume to it. |
