Most mothers who have babies tend to dress them with various costumes during Halloween. Indeed, babies do look cute when wearing these Halloween costumes but because these babies have no idea yet and are not capable of taking care of themselves there are things that you have to consider when shopping for Halloween costumes for your baby. 1. When buying costumes for your baby, make sure that it is easy to put on or remove. We all know that babies simply relieve themselves without telling us. The only time we know that they're done is when they begin crying because their diaper is already full with urine or because they feel sticky after moving their bowel. A costume that allows you to change diaper with ease is a good choice because for sure you will have to do this more than once while your baby is wearing that particular costume. Costumes with crotch snaps are the best choice. 2. Before you make the final purchase, take time to consider the costume's material. Keep in mind that the baby's skin is sensitive and can easily be irritated. In addition, the costume should be made from breathable and soft materials. Costumes made from stiff cloths are not recommended. Your baby should be comfortable wearing the costume because if not they will become irritable and they will constantly cry which can be bothersome especially when you are attending a Halloween party. 3. Babies tend to move a lot and restricting their movement can be frustrating for them. So when you buy a costume for your bundle of joy, you might want to choose those costumes that allow them to move freely or those that don't hinder their movements especially their arms and legs. Tight costumes are a big no-no because not only does it restrict their movement, it may also alter their breathing. 4. Some costumes come with a hat and a pair of shoes and sometimes gloves. These items are otherwise known as costume accessories. Gloves or mittens should be in the form of a bag or pouch which you can easily put on and remove over your baby's hands and the hat should be tied at the chin to keep it in place. As for the shoes, it should not be too tight or too lose and it should have a feature that allows it to be securely fastened to the baby's feet. 5. A costume made from flame resistant materials is a good choice. This is important because during Halloween people tend to light torches, candles and lamps. It is important for your child's costume to be flame resistant because he or she can crawl towards a lamp or torch without you knowing it. 6. Masks have always been a part of every Halloween costume but you should think twice before putting this on your baby. Masks are made from various materials and such materials can irritate your baby's facial skin. In addition, if the mask is ill-fitting, it can block your baby's nose and cause suffocation. Face painting is another alternative for masks but you have to take into consideration the various chemical contents of face paint. |
